The Disability Services division provides and funds a range of services for people with intellectual, physical, sensory and neurological disabilities and acquired brain injury.
The division works in partnership with families and carers, with non-government and government service providers to advance the well-being and promote the quality of life of people with disabilities.
Disabilities may be present from birth, become obvious later, or be a result of accidents or illness. Disabilities can be physical, sensory, neurological or intellectual.
The Department of Human Services Disability Action Plan 2005-2008 outlines a significant way of improving the public sector workforce participation of people with a disability.
Early Childhood Intervention Services support children with a disability or developmental delay from birth to school entry and also support their families.
The redevelopment aims to provide a better quality of life for the Kew Residential Services residents, who are progressively moving to new community homes. The redevelopment has been underway since May 2001 and will be completed by November 2006.
